Before graduating with a BS in Community Health from Illinois State University, Kate had an epiphany during a heart to heart talk that led her to the realization- her true calling was Interior Design.  Rather than changing gears close to graduation, she finished her degree at ISU and sought out her future as an Interior Designer.

Research and an itch for adventure brought her to the Design Institute of San Diego (DISD), a specialized 4 year program accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA),

and WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). There she further developed her natural talent and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design.  During her tenure at DISD, she accepted an internship at a San Diego commercial luxury design firm, Milburn Group.  There, she was promptly hired on as an Interior Designer, working alongside the owner where she delved into the world of high-end commercial design.  During her time there, she collaborated in designing a range of spaces, including leasing centers, corporate offices, and luxury condo high-rises. 

After a few experience-packed years at Milburn Group, life took Kate elsewhere, and she began to take on smaller projects independently.  During that time, she fell in love, started a family, and found herself back in her hometown in the NW Suburbs of Chicago.  With decades of experience working in the restaurant industry, it was a natural progression for Kate to blend the two worlds together.  An opportunity to solely take on a full renovation of a restaurant had presented itself.  Jumping in, it reignited her passion for design and her entrepreneurial spirit.  It was then that she branched out on her own to design commercial projects as an independent contractor.

With a growing portfolio and pleased clients, Kate continues her passion and journey designing both commercial and residential interiors.  Kate understands that successful projects begin with a comprehensive understanding of a clients’ needs and expectations.  Her ability to develop unique and successful design concepts is centered around building a relationship of respect and trust with her clients.  She is skilled in creating timeless spaces in any range of style, balancing elements of both form and function to meet the design needs.  Working with any variety of budget, timeframe, and requirements, Kate will guide you through the entire process working closely with contractors and vendors.  With a great deal of detail and care, Kate puts her heart into cultivating a one of a kind design tailored to each project.
